Bloodwork

Bloodwork is an important diagnostic tool that reveals health information about patients.

Health is an outfit that looks different on every pet. Our pets are great masters of disguise. Some pets may show no physical signs of disease, which is why bloodwork plays a vital role. Bloodwork allows us to look at the bigger picture and narrow in on what’s happening inside your pet’s body. This can help us diagnose and treat the source of your pet’s discomfort, so we can get them back to feeling healthier than ever. To learn more about your pet’s bloodwork, call us at 250-828-2939.

What can blood tests reveal about my pet’s health?

Bloodwork can reveal a lot about your pet’s health that might not be obvious to the eye. Through a blood test, we can record your pet’s baseline health levels to monitor if there are any significant changes or improvements in your pet’s health. We can also diagnose and treat any underlying conditions that may be causing your pet pain. With the help of our in-house laboratory, we can perform various diagnostic tests and provide more accurate medical care in less time. Blood tests can also help reveal:

  • Allergies
  • Underlying diseases
  • Parasites
  • Organ damage
  • Response to anesthesia

How often should my pet get a blood test?

Our veterinarians will usually request blood tests during your pet’s annual veterinary exam. This is why it’s important to stay on top of and not miss any of your pet’s routine check-ups. For senior pets, we recommend bringing them in twice a year. For further analysis, we may also request bloodwork if your pet is experiencing any symptoms and pain. Regular blood tests are a great way to maintain your pet’s overall health and prevent them from contracting harmful diseases.
