When should I spay/neuter my pet?

Kittens and cats can be spayed or neutered from as young as 4 to 6-months-old. Puppies and dogs can be spayed or neutered from 6 to 9-months-old. Ideally, we recommend spaying your female pet before she goes into heat for the first time. What are the advantages of spaying and neutering my pet?

Pets who have been spayed or neutered, on average, live longer lives than those who are not. They are also less prone to developing diseases such as cancer. Additional benefits include reduced uterine infections as well as reduced aggression, barking, and roaming.

What happens during spaying and neutering surgery?

Spay and neuter surgery is the surgical removal of your pet’s reproductive organs. This means they can no longer have a litter. During spay surgery, the female’s ovaries and uterus are removed. On the other hand, during neuter surgery, the male’s testicles are removed. Both procedures are done under general anesthesia to ensure your pet’s safety.
