Veterinary Exam

Regular veterinary exams provide you the chance to discuss any changes in your pet's health.

Regular veterinary exams are the simplest way to ensure your pet’s health is a top priority. Frequent checkups allow our team to maintain your pet’s health and keep an eye out for any diseases before they become chronic or fatal. To learn more about our veterinary exams, call us at 250-828-2939.

Why is it important for my pet to have a wellness exam?

When you bring your pet in for a routine exam, it allows us to assess their overall health. If they have any underlying diseases, we can catch them early and create a plan to prevent them from causing any serious damage. The goal is to keep your pet healthy and happy at all stages of their life.

How often should I bring my pet in?

For a complete veterinary exam, the rule of thumb is once every year. If your pet is a puppy/kitten or a senior, we recommend bringing them in for additional visits, usually twice a year. If you’re unsure, our veterinarians are happy to create a plan tailored to your pet’s age, health status, and lifestyle.

What happens during a veterinary exam?

During a wellness exam, our veterinarians will start with a physical evaluation of your pet. We may also run additional diagnostics such as blood tests, urine, and X-rays if further analysis is needed. Some of the things we will examine include:

  • Their teeth (for build-up, broken teeth, etc.)
  • Their skin (for bumps, loss of hair, etc.)
  • Their reflexes, muscles, and alertness
  • Their eyes (for redness, blurry vision, etc.)
